It’s time to appreciate the mamas! During the Tulip, Fairy, and Elf Festival on downtown Pearl Street this April, I will be offering FREE 10min foot massages, a flower, and a blessing of appreciation for pregnant people and mothers. Come visit my booth and receive some support and appreciation for being a mother.

Why is it that during stressful moments, simply telling ourselves or other people to relax doesn’t really work? How do we actually get the body on board?
Alyson Young, BCST, CYT will be teaching techniques to calm the nervous system, manage pain, and connect to the instinctual body. As many of us know, the pre-frontal cortex (our thinking mind) can become an obstruction to the birthing process. Our autonomic nervous system operates at the level of non-volitional impulses, beyond our linguistic and linear mind. As doulas, we must provide the relational and environmental conditions that allow the nervous system to settle for birthing families. When we lessen the busy pace of our thinking mind and connect to our feral body, birth proceeds more gracefully. Alyson will offer tools and exercises that generate the conditions of relaxation and connectedness for the families we work with and for us personally as doulas.
This event is hosted by Sterling Doulas and is open to anyone who works in the field of birthing.
